CHUCK WHITMANÂ
Chuck Whitman heads the management team at Whitman Asset Management (WAM), which he founded in 2013, and is Senior Portfolio Manager for all WAM’s program offerings, overseeing all research, trading and development activities. Over the past 30 years, he has garnered an extremely successful career in trading.
Chuck has extensive experience as a leader, teacher and manager. Prior to founding WAM, he was co-founder and CEO of Infinium Capital Management (ICM) from 2003-2012. During that time, Chuck built ICM up from 7 to 250 people. He built revenue from $0 to a high of $200M in 2008 and averaged $125M/year in revenue during his last 5 years as CEO. ICM was repeatedly recognized as one of Chicago’s Top Companies to work for, including #4 by Crain’s Business Chicago in 2009. As CEO of ICM, he was driven to implement processes and systems wherever possible, and institutionalized the firm during his tenure.

14 years old: Watched my dad make $365K trading in 8 months—then lose it all. Learned what the market gives, it can take.
17 years old:Â Moved to Chicago. Worked on the floor at the Chicago Board of Trade. Studied finance at night at DePaul.
17 years old: Attended Sheldon Natenberg’s (Author of Options Trading options seminar. Youngest in the room. Front row. Hooked for life.
18 years old:Â Started working under a top CBOT options trader, George Hanley. Supported trades. Studied everything. Learned fast.
19 years old:Â Started training new traders.
21 years old:Â Helped run the firm, build out internal systems, build HR, develop curriculum.
22 years old:Â Started trading professionally. Real risk. Real money. Real consequences.
26 years old: Became a partner. Built the firm’s risk department. Created trader training programs. Led high-performance teams.
32 years old:Â Founded my own trading firm, Infinium Capital Management. Built our own trading curriculum, with full training staff.
32–34 years old: Scaled Infinium to the largest commodity options market-making firm in the U.S.
34–44 years old: Traded every major asset class. Generated over $800 million in trading profits. Trained hundreds of traders.
40 years old:Â Appointed to the CFTC Technology Advisory Committee. Helped shape electronic trading regulation.
44 years old:Â Sold my stake in the firm. Pivoted to fund management.
45 years old:Â Launched Whitman Asset Management. Focused on discipline, edge, and risk-adjusted returns.
46 years old:Â Nominated for Top New CTA in the U.S. Scaled the fund to $95 million AUM.
47–49 years old: Co-founded SharpeCoach with my wife, Brynn. Focused on trader psychology, performance, and decision-making.
50+ years old:Â Founded Trading Matrix. Built full systems to develop elite retail traders using $10M+ of live-tested research.

KEVIN HOWARD
Kevin Howard is a veteran proprietary trader with over two decades of experience in global derivatives markets and a proven record of disciplined performance and strategic risk management. Currently serving as Head Trader and Risk Manager at RCM Trading in Chicago, trading crude oil derivatives.Â
His trading career has spanned leading proprietary firms including Infinium Capital Management, Ronin Capital, Allston Trading, and Lupo Futures, where he consistently developed new strategies, built and led trading teams, and managed complex portfolios in energy and fixed income options. His data-driven approach, combined with an instinct for market flow and volatility, has earned him recognition as a disciplined, adaptive, and forward-thinking trader.Â
Kevin’s success lies in his ability to merge analytics with intuition - identifying asymmetric opportunities while maintaining composure in fast-moving markets. His philosophy centers on process mastery, emotional control, and long-term consistency - the same principles he instills as a basketball coach and mentor.Â
Off the trading floor, Kevin channels his competitive drive into coaching. As an Assistant Varsity Coach at York High School and former Assistant Men’s Coach at Concordia University Chicago, he’s known for developing players’ toughness, leadership, and rebounding mentality - helping multiple athletes reach the Division I level. His experience in coaching complements his trading, reinforcing the importance of mindset, preparation, and resilience in high-stakes performance.

ALEXANDER ALWAN
Alex Alwan holds a Bachelor of Science in Computer Science and Statistics from Northwestern University, where he developed a deep foundation in data analysis, systems design, and quantitative modeling.
Upon graduation, Alex was personally recruited by Chuck Whitman to join the WAM Trading Team as a Junior Trader, supporting both proprietary trading operations and the educational division of SharpeCoach. Through years of direct mentorship under Chuck, Alex has gained extensive, hands-on experience in every facet of professional trading - from market structure and volatility strategy to execution efficiency and risk management.
Today, Alex serves as an Execution Trader on the WAM Macro Trading Team, where he oversees and manages the execution of complex options strategies across global markets. His precision, analytical discipline, and ability to translate market dynamics into actionable insights make him an invaluable part of both the WAM team and the Trading Matrix educational platform.
